After our driver pick contest, we chose Erick Gonzalez from NJ to be one of the first testers along with Jack Leach who provided us critical info in the design of this part.

But rather than tell you how good it is, here is what Erick had to say:

1)Installation: Fairly simple, I just removed the upper deck (4 screws) and shock towers. It was meant to mounted on slit of upper deck but as Jack Leach it takes modding to get it on upper deck. I took a different approach since I didn’t want to hack my Super Edition XXX-D VIP so that was out of question. I used the antenna hole on upper deck and use double stick tape for other side to mount it on. Since my xxx-d is rear motor layout, I decided to weight shift it more towards the front in line center to balance weight and add some extra need weight to the front. Since my electronics were all located to one side of chassis, I had to even the left-to-night balance by either rearranging some of my electronics to opposite end or add weights to compensate. I decided to just add bars of weights to the other side of chassis so I don’t have to re-solder all my wires.
2) Product Quality & Look: It was package in a nice clear zip lock with hardware (4 screws to mount the battery), the black mounting stand with several holes to move the tray around, and a nice red color battery which really pops out in my chassis and he even included a cool Miami Heat Oversliders license Plate decal! The plastic is very rigid and good quality and I’m pretty sure will last very long. Couldn’t be happier with looks, and for the price is a total win! Also, you can mismatch colors for custombility smile emoticon
3) Usability: Why so much hype for a weight shift tray? Do I need it? What’s the benefits? Well weight shift trays help change the characteristics of the car drastically, how it breaks loose, how aggressive it whips out, how it transitions, and depending on placement can alter the chassis to your driving style. My driving style is more aggressive but I like to be able to control my transitions and have it nice a smooth for closer tandems. Relocating it to the front allows the chassis transition smoother, reduce the whip happy rear (because of it’s rear motor ), and adds needed weight to front end for more stable steering in long sweepers and better front end grip.
4) Test surface: After installing it, I quickly went out to test on asphalt /cement. I just had my xxx-d rwd dialed in before the weight shift tray but once it tested, I must say wow! My chassis holds better angle, take longer sweepers, and was relatively much smoother in transitions. I was so happy with it, I decided to hit the local carpet track. Had to change tires and shock positions before test, and I was pleasantly happy with it as well! The weight shift made transitions more controllable and taking longer sweepers much easier. I haven’t tested in smooth surface but I’m sure the results will be the same.
5)Final Thoughts and Comments: I definitely highly recommend it! It’s a great hop up kit plus it’s relative cheap, good quality product, looks nice, and also you get great customer service. I think it’s especially useful to those considering converting their XXX-D to RWD or those who want to change the weight distribution of their chassis. However, I think it will take a bit of more advance tuning knowledge to fully utilize the weight shift tray and to get the most out of it. It may not work for some, but for those who loves the challenge of a good tune this will add another level of adjustability and enjoyment to your weight shifted XXX-D!!!

Thanks to Erick for testing our product and doing such a great write up. We hope our weight shift tray improve your RC Drift experience for many days to come!
